11/25/03 UPDATE: To Whomever is going out to Truckhaven on Friday
morning:
We are departing from Cabazon (at the dinosaurs) at 8:00 a.m. sharp. If you
want to eat breakfast before we leave, get there earlier! The Denny's there is
now closed; but there is a Burger King there. If you're up for a fast food
breakfast, they open at 7 a.m. We'll probably eat there just to save the time
(and mess) of eating at home before leaving.
Since we're new to the club, thought we
should let you know what vehicle to look for. We are driving a gray Silverado
truck towing a 30 foot white Rampage toy hauler trailer. Send us an email
if you need our phone numbers.
11/09/03 UPDATE:
Just a quick update about Friday morning, November 28th. Sheldon and Nancy
have volunteered to lead the group out Friday morning. They will be leaving
Cabazon at 8:00am sharp for Truckhaven. If you need directions to Cabazon,
please let us know! If you want to eat breakfast at Cabazon, please get there
early.
Also please let
us know if you are coming out for Truckhaven. This way we will have an idea
how big to set up the camp circle this year. If you need directions send
us an email!
11/08/03 UPDATE:
Just a quick e-mail about Truckhaven Hills over Thanksgiving
weekend........November 27th - 30th, 2003.
The Thomas family will be traveling out Wednesday night late, to go out and
grab our spot! If anyone is interested in going out Wed. night let us know and
we can hook up. Otherwise, a few people usually come out Thursday, but most seem
to come out on Friday morning or Friday night. This year the Thomas family will
be having turkey day in the desert with Heather's mom and dad at camp!!
The Friday morning meeting is usually at Cabazon where the big dinosaurs are
off of the 10 freeway. I need a volunteer to lead everyone out Friday morning!
Once I figure out a lead person for Friday's drive out, I will let everyone
know.
We will be doing to Saturday night pot luck again, so please come ready to
eat. We never really plan the menu, so it's just a bring whatever you think is
good! If anyone wants to tackle any main courses, let me know and I'll let
everyone know.
Also keep in mind, we have a huge fire in the middle of the big camp circle
each night, so please try to bring firewood! If everyone try's to bring some, we
will end up with lots of wood to have very nice fires each night.
Camping is remote, so plan to bring everything you need to camp. Most years
the weather has been great for tent camping! Let me know if you have any
questions. Motor homes and trailers are no problem either, It's only me that
seems to get stuck ever year in the wash ;)
We will be running a follow the leader type tough run this year on Friday and
Saturday. If you want an easier run or scenic, I need a volunteer to lead! There
are plenty of trails for everyone to have a great time!
