2 nights of tent camping in the great outdoors. Bring food, water, and 2 pieces of firewood for 2-nights of tent camping. The first day is the longest stretch I hope to camp at the top of Thompson Hill near Thompson Lake.

33inch tires and lockers are required this has some very difficult areas.

we are leaving on a week day to avoid the weekend rif raf from the Fresno area.

Getting there:

Out of Fresno and through Clovis head East

take hwy 168 and before Shaver Lake

turn right on to Dinky Creek Road

stay straight on to McKinley Grove Road at

Courtright Road turn left to Courtright Reservoir.

Cross the dam on the east side of the Lake and stay on the road to the Dusy-Ershim trail.

I believe there is a good meeting area before the dam. So look for us before the dam.

The Dinkey Lakes Wilderness lies southeast of Huntington Lake, northwest of Courtright Reservoir. Most of it is above 8,000 feet. Sixteen lakes are clustered in the west-central region of the wilderness.

The John Muir Wilderness covers 584,000 acres in the Sierra and Inyo national forests. Elevations range from 4,000 feet to 14,496 feet at Mt. Whitney, and many peaks are above 13,000 feet.

The Kaiser Wilderness is located immediately north of Huntington Lake, about 70 miles northeast of Fresno. The southern half of the wilderness area is characterized by dense Red Fir and Jeffery Pine forests that extend up the gradual south slope of Kaiser Ridge. The top of the ridge is in the alpine zone. This northern region contains 18 small lakes.
