White Elephant Gift Exchange
The spending limit is $10. (The
Cheaper the better - some said that a gift that you received and don't want is
okay to use - in other words, re-gifting is allowed.)
GUIDELINES:
1. Everyone who wants to play brings
a wrapped gift (guest are encouraged to participate).
2. It should be an item that someone
would actually want or use. (Who are we kidding!!)
3. Prepare slips of paper with
numbers and have everyone draw one.
4. Person who drew #1 chooses a gift,
opens it, and it is admired by all. (Especially if they
picked the "Spare Tire" poster!)
5. Person who drew #2 gets the choice
of "stealing" any unwrapped gift (#1's) OR choosing a wrapped
one. (NOTE: If you steal you don’t get to open a present
too)
6. Person who drew #3 gets the choice
of "stealing" any unwrapped gift (#1's or #2's) OR choosing a
wrapped one. (NOTE: If you steal you don’t get to open a
present too)
Game continues based on the the
format above and the following: (NOTE: If you steal you
don’t get to open a present)
a - If a gift is stolen from you, you
can steal a gift from someone ELSE (see b and c below), or open a new one.
b - Turns proceed until everyone has
a gift. A turn is ended when a gift is opened and (hopefully) admired by
everyone.
c - A gift cannot be stolen more than
once in a turn or stolen from the person who stole it from you. Gifts
cannot be stolen more than 3 times during the course of a game. On the
third steel, the gift is "frozen" and the person who stole it the
third time gets to keep that gift. (Of course, after the game is over, everyone
is free to barter or exchange amongst themselves.)
7. The gift exchange ends when the
last remaining wrapped gift is opened
