Panamint Valley Days - 11/00

By Jesse May

Lets get one thing out in the open,     I did NOT win a winch this year.  So my streak is broken, in fact I didn’t win a thing!

Now on to how the weekend was like.  We left home an hour later then I wanted to, but we did finally leave.  I meet Bill Smith, and we headed towards Panamint Valley via swinging over so  Lisa Shrock, so she could join in the caravan.  We got to Panamint Valley and sit up camp.

I had made my mind up to do Fish Canyon weeks before the event. Because I had not done that trail yet.  All three of use did Fish Canyon run. We started the trail on the Trona side of the mountains. We finally dropped down into Fish Canyon . Once we made the turning around point in the canyon, Bill starter failed! There was a guy that knew how to rebuild the starter, but to no avail. So I had to tow Bill all the way back to camp. (man you talk about good gas mileage for Bill J ). As we made it back to camp, we heard that almost all the other trail runs were getting some type of snow.  The Isume and Fish Canyons trails got nothing, not even rain (thank goodness).

At the raffle that night, Eric did win once and got some toys.  But I got a big goose egg (NOTHING!).  On the other hand Bill must have won about three times.  One of the prizes he got was a hood for a CJ or something like that and of course that will not work for the Bronco.

Well,  I will be planning on going next year.  I want to try another trail that I have not done, like the historical trail.  Hope to see more of the club at next year event.

Jesse
