The fun in the Snow, Mud and Ice.

By Jesse "Stomp" May

February run on the 20th started early, by a phone call from Mad Dog on the 17th. and he really sounded SICK. Well, I agreed to lead the run.

The 20th started like any one day run starting from Denny's (or bust). 20 min before leaving Denny's it looked like we were going to have a XJ run, but by the time we left at 8:00 we had a mixer of Jeeps. By the time we got to Running Spring we had 12 vehicles, include Gary running about 15 min late after 9:00. So I took the group to the start of 2N09 (just past Fawnskin), and we aired down.

2N09 and 2N09F -We started and we then took 2N09F which is a nice scenic and good mud trail, which leads to 3N12. While on 2N09F we looked at the spot where I lost the Jeep over the side of the road on a Don-A-Vee run 1-30-99.

3N12 - Well the only thing exciting is Kory's girl friend got all muddy from a hole in the floor that he did not know of.

3N16 and 3N08 - Kory's girl friend's father's Jeep had some hard times running but all is well.

3N93 (Holcomb Creek) - We had fun getting out of the creek including the stock Cherokee. After the creek crossing we had lunch. Some even had fun watching a big vehicle go at a fast rate of speed right into a rock at the bottom of the hill. (Always look before you leap). After lunch we continued the trail. The sled run hill, well I took a long time to get up the hill, but after I took a different path, I went right up, and so did everybody else without any of the effort that I exerted... (I just keep telling myself that I broke the ice up. ;-) )

2N06X - uneventful trail.

3N16 - While the lead group waited at the turn off for Crab Flats, I PLAYED in the water crossing trying to wash my front window off. I crossed the water about 7 times. As you can probably guess what came next. About 10 to 15 min and about 5 miles later the Jeep finally stopped running. Guess why.... You got it, I got water in the distributor cap. With the help from the club, we used WD40 (Thanks Travis) to get the water out and it started like a charm, and been running great since. 6 Cheryl even had a fun time getting sideways in the Delp's Jeep on the snow and ice, one time getting stuck (a little bit). The rest of the way out was fun with the ruts in the snow (ice).

ALL in all it was a good mud, snow, and ice RUN!!!
