Cow bell owners - It changed too many times! The last
owner is Kory M. for the fuel problem and then getting the motor home stuck.
The worst stuck - Allison D. - Two winches and one tow
strap (three vehicles)
We all had FUN!!! I was informed that I was to write not so
short story so here it is…
The Delp's and May's decided to leave on Thanksgiving Day for
Truckhaven. We finished the turkey dinner and left at 3:00 PM, we arrived at
camp about 7:00 PM. After setting up, we joined the small group that was around
the fire. At that time we noticed a very bright fire in the distance. So Dan D.,
David E. and myself went for a interesting night run to find out what was
burning so brightly. Now that was fun excursion because all I was doing was
going cross country. Twice I almost went into a ravine and that would not have
been much fun. We had fun getting there, but once we arrived to the fire, we
noticed it was a palm tree that some idiot set fire to. (mind you there are not
a lot of palm tree out there!)
Friday, we waited for the group that was coming in this
morning before we started the fun. After every one finished setting up, we left
camp and went to find places to get stuck. While we were having fun, the cow
bell was passed from one stuck vehicle to the next. After lunch was when the
worst stuck was awarded and of course the recipient of the cow bell (for a short
time). Allison was going along a ridge and got a little too far to the left.
This is when the two Jeeps with winches and a Jeep with a tow strap, got her
back to level ground. After lunch was when Brian snapped the driver side u-joint
and the axle.
Saturday, we left again to find more places to get stuck.
This day was mostly uneventful. We decided to return back to camp so we could
eat early and have a good night run. Saturday night. This group was a smaller
group, that wanted to have some fun in the night. So I was leading the group
away from camp. Once we dropped down into another wash I decided that it would
be fun to go back to the location where we had been before earlier this day.
When I finally found the wash, that was when I heard Kory having problems. Since
he knows the area and he had a GPS with him, he could find camp… So the rest
of the group went on. On our way around the hills, I heard a comment that we
have never been here and it looks cool… I then pointed out to the group that
we were at the Saturday's lunch point. As the group was on the way back to camp,
we heard that Quinn was on his way home, so we all said our good byes.
When the group was in sight of camp, I started to call for
Kory. He was put-putting along at about 1 mile an hour and stalling every few
hundred feet. We decided to go after him and help him back to camp, but he
didn't want to get the cowbell back and be towed by a Cherokee, so he made
things difficult for us. By not turning on his lights and only giving part of
his GPS coordinates. I decided to join in his fun and was determined to find
him, so off the hill top to we went. We passed him within 20 feet and didn't
know it, because he had his lights off. Finally he stated he was only about 50
feet away from camp, so we headed back. He got all the way to going up the bank
to camp, but he stalled again and his battery gave out.. Finally he had to admit
defeat and had to be towed the last couple of hundred feet… and that is where
he got the Cow Bell!
Sunday. The reset of the group left for home. But Kory really
earned the cow bell when he got his motor home stuck trying to leave.
