daughter of Ken and Kris Krieger
My adventure started rather early on Saturday, May 3rd. Mom
and Dad woke me up about 6:00 am with all their racket downstairs getting things
together. We finally got on the road, dad driving, mom on music duty, and me in
the back of course. I took a snooze on the way, it sure took a long time to get
to Tiffany's. I needed all the rest I could get - mom was going to drive the
truck four-wheeling!
We made it to the dirt around 9:30 am. That was after
everyone did food, gas and something with their tires. Mom took control of the
truck and that's when the real adventure started. Mom has never driven dad's
truck before, much less on dirt. Dad kept reminding her that she needed to use
two feet on the brakes to stop. We got to ride towards the front because mom was
driving. I sat back and enjoyed the ride. It was really bumpy, but that's the
fun part. Mom did real well driving dad's truck. She stopped before hitting
anything in front of us, we made it up "Divorce Hill" with the family
still intact, and I even saw her give dad a high five. They did "smooth
their feathers" along the way, but they’re still talking to each other.
We made a few "pit stops" along the way. During one
"pit stop", I observed how to fix a broken hub. It sure took a lot of
people and stuff to fix it. We also stopped a few times for dad to attach this
long yellow rope from his truck to the guy behind us. During our lunch stop, I
watched several people try to get up this really steep hill. Nobody made it to
the top, but everyone had advice on how to get up it.
Overall, it was a fun day. Mom had a good time and dad was
fairly relaxed through it all. I liked all the bumping. Hopefully, I will get to
go again. I will go with mom driving any time. Look forward to seeing you out on
the trails (5,000 feet and under).
