It hit me like a ton of bricks, the Dirt Devils are here to
stay.
You should have been there. Around the campfire there were
children and adults all having a great time. What brought us there was the Third
Annual Thanksgiving run to Truckhaven Hills.
If you were with us on our first adventure to Truckhaven you
might have seen eight to ten vehicles and a lot of pup tents scattered about a
fire ring. Now you would have been shocked at the sight, twenty two 4x4’s and
most came with motor homes and tent trailers.
Friday night was something very special to see, a large and
diverse crowd all having a lot of fun. Some were looking forward to stumping the
chump, as other were wondering what adventures they were in for. Myself, I was
looking forward to exploring the countryside. Once the festivities reached a
pinnacle, Dean was kind enough to show us a video about a bunch of less than
sane motorcyclists. Thanks to Kory Merrill and his generator, we were able to
watch the video at the campfire. For some of us we will never forget the night,
for one or two they may not remember it at all (you all know who I am referring
to).
On Saturday some of us went exploring. Thanks to Vern and
Marla’s expertise in the area we found the arch and sheep tanks as well as
some other incredible natural formations. After seeing what we found, I look
forward to going back and doing more exploring. Next time you see Marla or Vern,
ask them about the hidden arch trail.
Saturday night a few of us made the three hour trip to Glamis
to see all the madness. I still can not find the words to describe it. Someone
described the scene as a sold out rock concert on quads. The closest I can
describe it is as total anarchy. In using a term from long ago, I have seen the
elephant.
In closing, I would like to say we have developed a very
special club with all types of people in it. We all do not see eye to eye, but
be patient. Our diversity is our strength.
To all the Dirt Devils, Thank you very much.
